Happy New Year!

by admin on January 2, 2007

I’m going to go through 2006 and see what I’ve done. No particular reason.

Left behind on my parents trip to Europe. Not to say that I didn’t have a fun time, just hello? EUROPE!!

I did the Toastmasters course at McDonalds at the crack of dawn in first term, for about six weeks.

I struggled through and somehow managed not only to finish, but to also get an A on the enormous twenty page assignment on the human paradox that I’ve doubtless mentioned on here before. I’m still proud of that.

Volunteered for that thing where the American students came and we had to be their buddy for the day. The first time was really good, the girl I was paired with was really nice, but the second time I wound up with a stuck up Barbie doll who ditched me at lunchtime. So mixed feelings about all of that.

Played hockey again this year. And we didn’t lose all our games!! I think we might have even won a couple!! Yayness!

Actually attended the school Sports Day, because of the Student Council drinks stall and the fact that Misato was staying with us at that point.

Had Misato and Aya, two Japanese students stay at our place for two weeks each.

Went to Japan for three months and stayed with Misato. I’m not going to write too much more about that, because I think I’ve bored everyone with that for the last four months of this blog. Although I do think it’s such a big deal I ought to write it several times.

Hee hee hee.

Flew down to Hobart for my Grandpa’s funeral. (Low point of the year.)

Somehow (I’m still not entirely sure how this happened) managed to get a bunch of awards at the Awards night. I find this mildly hilarious, considering the fact that I have no idea how I managed to get any of them.

Consumed absurd amounts of ham, pavlova and rum-less rum balls, which are traditionally our Christmas
treats, in order to stock up for the rest of the year.

Burnt my skin to a crisp in a single trip to the beach and spent the next week rubbing moisturiser into my face, shoulders, arms and back.

Been on my Uncle’s doughnut, attatched to the back of their boat and achieved aching arm muscles in addition to my third degree burns. Although that is really fun. Until you fall off that is. That’s just scary.

Hmm. Not bad, not bad at all.

Hello and Merry New Year!

by admin on December 31, 2005

Now that was fun. Christmas Eve we went to see Cheaper by the Dozen 2, for no other reason than that the cinemas are air-conditioned. I’m not sure what happened to the white Christmas thing. Although it kind of funny to hear songs like Winter Wonderland in shops that have the aircon blasting so high you can hardly hear the CD over it.

The movie was good though. Despite what a certain father may believe. (Yes that means you.)

Christmas Day was fun. We did the whole Santa thing (can you believe I got a mobile?!?) and had breaky, then went to a friends place for ‘drinks’ which I personally believe was just an excuse to get the adults into a positively fridge-like lounge room. But whatever. They let the kids in eventually.

We had lunch at our place but, tragically, the pool was out of action, so we just had to sweat it off until we got to our cousins for dinner about five hours later. Although, come to think of it, I didn’t actually go for a swim there either, because it came over really stormy.

Boxing Day we drove up to Mooloolabah (or something like that) to stay with our other cousins. The two hour trip took four hours. Four hours. I am not even joking. From the entrance of the Gateway Motorway to Caboolture we barely went over twenty k/h. Very boring. But we did eventually get there so we spent the next two days swimming.

Since we’ve been back, I have swum (finally the pool’s good) wandered around aimlessly and tried to teach myself to dive. Needless to say, I’m not exactly talented. And I went to the movies with a friend yesterday too. You’ve gotta love school holidays.

Oh my gosh I can’t believe I forgot. Dad’s gone on that CSIRO diet thingo so he’s FINALLY started running with me again. Yay!! Even though I can hardly make the distance anymore and he can easy, but he has an unfair advantage in the form of long legs.

Okay, I’m going now.

Happy New Year’s Eve.
