Random Self- Quiz Type Thing

by admin on December 10, 2007

Due to an overwhelming lack of anything more interesting to write, I’m going to do another self- test / about me thingy-me-bobs.

Name uh… duh

Age 16 years, 8 months and 26 days or 200 months and 26 days or 6026 days.

Grade Just finished grade eleven. Really don’t want to be in year twelve, cause that means I have to come up with something to do after I finish. And I don’t want to do that. Primarily cause I have no idea.

Favourite Movie The Producers, The Day After Tomorrow. I kinda like natural disasters. Go figure.

Least Favourite Movie Gallipoli. We watched it in Soc Ed in year nine and it was without a doubt the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I’d be very well suited to the whole war thing. I think I’d be much better at sitting at home knitting socks or something.

Favourite Subject Modern History is so much fun. We argue about everything, from the War in Iraq (our actual topic) to does money equal happiness to Operator Please. The topics are so interesting too, despite our remarkable ability to get sidetracked and spend the entire lesson yelling at each other about whatever comes to mind. Also Japanese, despite the fact that we’ve got a composite class with the year tens, which kind of sucks, cause we only have half the time with Mrs Govindasamy. But still.

Favourite Food Chocolate icecream, butter chicken and chicken pasta bake. Not together though.

Least Favourite Food Mince. Ewk.

Favourite TV Shows The Chasers War on Everything, House and Summer Heights High. Yay.

Favourite Colour (these questions are getting lamer and lamer) yellow, orange… happy sunny colours. Trust me, that makes sense. Sort of.

Favourite Song O-Zone, Dragostea Din Tei. It’s slightly odd, but I love it, it cracks me up. Practically the theme song to my first trip to Japan. Also Arigatou, by SMAP. Theme to the second trip. Both make me laugh. Just fun. Is it odd that I prefer to listen to songs in foreign languages?? Though if you’d seen five Japanese guys dancing around in identical tight shiny red jumpsuits on the TV, with your forty-something year old host mum dancing around the room doing the exact same dance as the guys on the screen, you’d feel the same. Probably.

Favourite Book Bugger. Can’t think of anything. Yeesh, this is pathetic. It’s not like any of these questions are a huge surprise, since I WROTE THEM.

Well then. Toodaloo.

Gold Coast Marathon

by admin on July 2, 2007

Okay, so maybe I have been excessively lazy and haven’t written anything on here in ages.

But whatever.

These holidays have been really good. Yesterday was the Gold Coast Marathon and my brothers Scout group had one of the drink stations. Since Jack was doing the 10km run, Mum and I helped at the drink station. Can I just say that this involved me getting up at the ungodly hour of 4.30? Yeah. Half past four. AM.

It was worth it though. Because there was a prize for the best drink station, we went all out. Our theme was the Aussie colours, green and gold, since the crew shirt we got given was a yellow-orange colour. Everyone had the colours on and then got their hair sprayed or wore one of the Aussie afros we’d got. Mum and I both teased our hair into pigtails and sprayed one half green and the other half yellow and I got my face painted in the same colours. Although our hair looked awesome, I’m not sure it was the brightest idea I’ve ever had, since it took me ten minutes in the shower (far more than the 4 minutes they’re always going on about), half a bottle of conditioner and twenty minutes of solid brushing to get all the gunk out. And now this morning at half past ten, I’m sitting in front of the computer in my dressing gown with my hair all done up in a bun, absolutely brimming with this leave in for ages conditioner stuff, in an attempt to return my hair to its usual texture.

Also at the moment I am struggling to walk normally, as my legs, upper arms and stomach are all so sore. Also my voice is half gone. Turns out this is what happens when you jump up and down for two and a half hours, waving streamers and yelling encouragement at people. After we’d put all the water out that is. There was a man in the race, who was apparently the Japanese equivalent of Oprah, running with a camera crew. He was filming some sort of comedy thing, so he’d stop all the time for massages and stuff. He was the very last person to pass us, so we made a guard of honour thing and he ran through. It was so funny.

The rest of my day was much less exciting. I was so exhausted by the time we got home that I lay on the couch for the rest of the afternoon, watching The DaVinci Code and playing Burnout with my brother on the PS2.

Eurgh. I’m going to wash this gunk out of my hair. I can feel bits sliding down the back of my neck.

8 hours

by admin on September 16, 2006

That’s how long I spent today at Cararra Stadium watching soccer grand final’s.

8 hours. Because Haz had to get there about an hour and a half before his game, we watched a neighbour play. He won in penalty shootouts. (Go Palmy!!) Then we watched Haz play. He scored a goal and then another one in penalty shootouts. They won. It was very exciting. (Funnily enough, no, I’m not being sarcastic.) Then our over the back neighbour played and they won, but just straight out, no extra time or anything. Though he did score a penalty, but that was during our game. Finally we watched out next door neighbour play and they lost in extra time, effectively breaking our winning streak.

Eight hours.
We left home at 9 in the morning and didn’t leave Carrara until about 5.

Eight hours.

Anyway. Last night we had our final game of hockey for the year. We were playing off for 3rd and 4th, but since we all knew they were going to win anyway, we just had a fun game. It was the best game of the season. One of the coaches played goalie for the first time in her life (and still managed to do some awesome saves), we covered our faces with big blue ‘L’s and just had fun. We fell about laughing if someone missed the goal, the other team tried to set up goals for us and we fell about laughing again when she missed. The goalie ran and hid behind the goals when there were people running down the field trying to score. The umpires got in on it too, trying to rig the game, giving free hits to the wrong teams, or whenever they felt it was about time the other team had a go. We all yelled at each other and laughed at the players sitting down the other end trying to sunbake (this was a night game mind you, so I’m not sure they had much luck).

It was just so much fun and I wish it had gone longer. Most games are so one- sided, especially with this team, so it was fun to just muck around.

OH MY GOD, I CAN’T BELIEVE I MANAGED TO GO THIS LONG WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING BUT I GO TO JAPAN ON THURSDAY AND IT IS SATURDAY NIGHT, SO WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING IT WILL ONLY BE FOUR DAYS!!! No, what are you talking about? I’m not excited in the least.

:-)

Hee hee hee.

Ooh. I don’t think I’ve written since this happened, so I’ll yabber on about it for a bit.

For my English assignment this term, we had to do this big boring movie pitch for the book ‘Dracula’. Despite how painful that sounds, it’s actually pretty funny, because she said we could transform the story a bit. So.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I am proud to present ‘Dracula: The Musical’. It’s also a comedy, but it doesn’t sound as good in the title.

Anyway, in the book, Dracula can transform himself into not only a bat, but also a wolf. In ‘Dracula: The Musical’ he changes into a cricket bat and a poodle. With a pink bow no less. Hee hee. I actually can’t think of anything else amusing that happens in the video, so I’m just going to go now.

Buh bye.

Markets, Cats and PE

by admin on May 15, 2006

Hello

So. Mum and I went to the markets to sell stuff on Mothers Day. We went to Lennox Head which is way down past Byron Bay. We’ve never been there before, so we thought got hopelessly lost on the way down. Even though we weren’t… yeah.

It turns out that Mother’s Day is a really stupid day to do the markets. No one goes. They’re all too busy taking their mums out to breakfast and lunch and stuff. So we sat. And we sat. And we sat.

You know what the really sad part is? That ‘so we sat. And we sat. And we sat.’ thing? That’s a slightly adjusted quote from my favourite of all the Golden Circle little kiddy books, ‘Lavender the Library Cat’…that reads ‘so she sat. And she sat. And she sat.’

Okay, you can stop laughing now.

Really.

Please?

So… what else has been going on?
In PE my all – girls class is doing rugby union and AFL. I wouldn’t have thought it would be my kind of thing, but it is SO much fun. Because seriously, how often do we girls get a chance to tackle?? All I can say is thank god there’s no guys in the class. One really sad thing though, which made me feel that the whole feminist thing has all been in vain? The south coast rugby union trials were on at the same time as our class, so half the girls, most likely more, refused to play, and instead sat down on the edge of the guys field for half the lesson. It was way better without them, though.

I’ve just been hit by a fresh wave of pre- Japan- excitedness. I’ve found out that, so far anyway, I’m the only one going in Term Four, which sorta sucks, but I’m still happy. Yay!!

I’m sorry that this post is so all over the place, but really, all I can say is ‘nah nah nah nah nah’ (please imagine me poking out my tongue too).

Bye.

Swimming Carnival

by admin on February 4, 2006

Hello!!

So. Yesturday was our all school swimming carnival. Yeah.

It was really bizarre, because usually I’m someone who dreads the annual sports days and swimming carnivals.

This is for a few reasons:- a) I only know two people in my house, and only one of them goes to the events.
b) you spend most of the days sitting around doing not much except the occasional race (unless you’re fortunate enough to have friends in your house)
c) your house captains spend all their time harrassing you to go in races that are already full.

But this carnival was fun. I don’t know why. Maybe because I had a friend in the house situated next to mine.
Or maybe because of the time my friend and I spent cheering for our friends in the other teams. I can’t think of anything else. I went in breaststroke and lose by half a lap, same as last year. I had my name down for freestyle but wasn’t able to go in it because there wasn’t enough room, same as last year.

Go figure.

I just heard the best song on Rage this morning. Sugababes ‘Ugly’. It’s really good. I love the lyrics.

Lalalalala. I should go.

So I will.

Bye.

Hello and Merry New Year!

by admin on December 31, 2005

Now that was fun. Christmas Eve we went to see Cheaper by the Dozen 2, for no other reason than that the cinemas are air-conditioned. I’m not sure what happened to the white Christmas thing. Although it kind of funny to hear songs like Winter Wonderland in shops that have the aircon blasting so high you can hardly hear the CD over it.

The movie was good though. Despite what a certain father may believe. (Yes that means you.)

Christmas Day was fun. We did the whole Santa thing (can you believe I got a mobile?!?) and had breaky, then went to a friends place for ‘drinks’ which I personally believe was just an excuse to get the adults into a positively fridge-like lounge room. But whatever. They let the kids in eventually.

We had lunch at our place but, tragically, the pool was out of action, so we just had to sweat it off until we got to our cousins for dinner about five hours later. Although, come to think of it, I didn’t actually go for a swim there either, because it came over really stormy.

Boxing Day we drove up to Mooloolabah (or something like that) to stay with our other cousins. The two hour trip took four hours. Four hours. I am not even joking. From the entrance of the Gateway Motorway to Caboolture we barely went over twenty k/h. Very boring. But we did eventually get there so we spent the next two days swimming.

Since we’ve been back, I have swum (finally the pool’s good) wandered around aimlessly and tried to teach myself to dive. Needless to say, I’m not exactly talented. And I went to the movies with a friend yesterday too. You’ve gotta love school holidays.

Oh my gosh I can’t believe I forgot. Dad’s gone on that CSIRO diet thingo so he’s FINALLY started running with me again. Yay!! Even though I can hardly make the distance anymore and he can easy, but he has an unfair advantage in the form of long legs.

Okay, I’m going now.

Happy New Year’s Eve.

What to do…

by admin on December 7, 2005

Hi,

I’m at school (still).

And tomorrow. But yesturday I spent most of the day in my friends ridiculously fridge- like lounge room, so I really can’t complain. Besides, this computer room is air- con d too.

So. Right now, I would so love to go down to the beach, with one of those frozen cokes from Macca’s and give myself a brain freeze. Stupid, I know, but it’s so hot! Serve me right for living on the Gold Coast.

And even though I’m whinging about school practically every single entry, it’s really not that bad. On Monday, we played Splatball, the Elanora High version of the game on that movie Dodgeball- the only difference being that we have more people on a side-, and table tennis made paper (yes, you did read that right) and watched people from our grade (9) perform their Performing Arts pieces.

Today I have constructed a tower out of paddlepop sticks and sticky tape and played a grammer game I actually kind of liked. I can’t believe I just admitted that, but there you go.

We haven’t put up our Christmas tree yet, but I want to do it soon. That reminds me, what is up with the whole, Santa is banned, call your Chrissie tree a holiday tree thing. What are these people thinking???

Why can’t they just celebrate their holidays and let us celebrate ours? Besides, Santa is nice, he brings you presents. He is not going to harm your child by patting them on their head.

Sorry, that was a little bit of a speel.

Anyway, so. There is this big craze sweeping my school- scoobie laces. Or at least I think that’s what everyones been calling them.

They’re these plastic lace things you wind around itself- sorta hard to explain. It reminds me a bit of finger knitting. I just stated one this moring, grren and white, and they’re really fun. I totally suck, but they’re fun to do, and it’s not like anyone has anything better to do.

Okay, now I’m going.

I like horsies.

by admin on November 12, 2005

Hey

Oh my gosh, how slack am I?
I didn’t write last weekend, even though I fully try to do it every Saturday when everyone’s at cricket (suckers). But it’s not like I had anything to write about anyway.

But now I do, so that’s good.

Okay, yesterday the year 12’s left so it was all a bit psycho at school. My friends got egged on the way to school, there’s graffiti all over the Home Ec block and loos and glue in all the locks (totally unoriginal, anyone would think last years year 12’s didn’t do exactly the same thing). So now their formal will probably be cancelled. Suckers.

It just shows though how dumb some people really are, when the police show up because a few year 12’s jumped out at an 8 year old and a 9 year old in a balaclava and scared them so much they couldn’t talk for two hours.

In other, less dumb- well, okay, probably not- news, I had my first horseriding lesson today. It was fun, I was in a group with a bunch of over- excited 9 year old girls, having a birthday party. We had a half hour lesson and then a half hour trail ride. It was so cool, all the property was really pretty. I was on Champagne, a really gorgeous, but kinda hyped up horse. I wasn’t very good at the whole getting off bit though, I kept getting my foot caught on that big hard sticking-up bit that goes behind your butt. I can’t remember what they called it.
I’ve been in and out of the pool all day. I love it now it’s fixed and the bottom is visible.
My discovery of the week: My favourite book (Noughts and Crosses) is actually a trilogy! Yay!

Geez this spell-check is driving me nuts. I AM SPELLING AUSTRALIAN, NOT AMERICAN. IF YOU’D JUST LET ME CHANGE THE SETTING TO AUSSIE ENGLISH (slang inclusive) I WOULDN’T BE SPELLING HALF AS BADLY.

Sorry, but that was really bugging me.

Anyway, I’d better go, my brownies are beeping.

Luv Laura.
