It’s weird – just as you get into some sort of a routine out here, it all gets turned on its head. Not that its a bad thing, but still. Got into Port Augusta fairly early and met everyone at the campsite. Guess what?!? Showers! It felt so good to have a shower – I was disgustingly filthy and my hair! Erugh. But it was good to get clean.
After making ourselves at least partially fit to be seen, we went down to Coles and did all the groceries for the next few days until Broken Hill. It’s amazing how organised Mum is, she’s incredible.
That night we went to the West Augusta Football Club for dinner – real fine dining, wooh! $8.50 for a meal. $11.50 if you want to splash out and get a steak. Great food though. [click to continue...]

It’s been really good seeing Neil again, haven’t seen him in ages. Keep forgetting to call him Neil, keep saying Trevor, or even worse, Uncle Trevor. It’s been hard to remember, so I reverted to Uncy. This is my Uncy:
We’ve (well, Neil) have found some awesome campsites, one was way off the road with heaps and lots of little red dirt tracks leading off in a sort of maze… it was pretty awesome.

- Jack and Nicky at our camping spot for the night.
We get to Port Augusta tomorrow where we lose Neil and meet David and Maree White – David’s the boss of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Melbourne and they’ll be riding for a couple of days, until we arrive in Broken Hill – and Jo and Chris who are coming until the end (Jo works for Mum and Dad). So that will be rather excellent.

Our second day with Perth to Paradise!!
It was so good to get off that bus on Monday night and see everyone – hadn’t seen Em or Ange in ages, so that was good.

So, just arrived in Ceduna, South Australia, after a two hour flight from the Gold Coast to Adelaide and then a twelve hour (count them – twelve) bus ride to Ceduna, one of the most ewky things in existance. It wasn’t too boring though, which was nice. We saw the giant cockroach and the giant fly a little way out of Adelaide. Not quite as big (or as cool) as the Big Pineapple, but I guess everything’s relative.
But anyway, finally here!
Woo hoo!

So happy right now.
Just found out I got an awesome scholarship for uni next year.
And a job at Coles (I think).
And Harry and I leave for Ceduna/Adelaide/God only knows where else tomorrow.
Yay.

This is Jack.
He has decided to cycle across Australia. As you do.
So, on Thursday the eleventh of September, lil ol’ Jackman set off (with Dad) from Perth, to ride all the way back over to the Gold Coast. So Harry and I have been home alone for almost a week now (oo

oeeiiioo – supposed to be the freaky supernatural sound effect. Really didn’t work.)
To be honest I just find it interesting that having us two freaks at home alone was considered to be a good idea. But whatever. We have another week and then we’ll fly to Adelaide, then catch a TWELVE HOUR bus to Ceduna. Cenduna’s a teeny little baby town twelve hours from Adelaide
But sorry, back to Jack. (It’s all about him right now.) Well, he and Dad are riding a very long way for charity – Big Brothers Big Sisters Australia. I think someone should mention to him that he is not a Big Sister, but apparently that doesn’t really matter.
But yeah, seems they’re going really well, they got to Uncle Trevor’s house in Kalgoolie earlier than they thought they would, which is always nice.
That’s really all I have to say.
Ja nee.

Dad and Jack in Kalgoolie. Or somewhere equally as dusty.

Day three was full of boring, but kind of fun things.
1st stop: Old Parliament House
Pretty cool. They went through everything that happened when Gough Whitlam was sacked. People from our groups got to pretend they were the people and act it out a bit, and we walked all through the rooms where the events took place, which was pretty cool.
2nd Stop: Electoral Commission
Well, at least I know how to vote now.
3rd Stop: National Art Gallery
This really just proved that I have no appreciation for art. There was one there by Picasso, that was something a grade one student could seriously have done. (It involved a box and a toilet roll.) Although I did like the ones in the landscapes exhibition of the erupting volcanoes. But it wasn’t exactly the arty farty side of that which impressed me. I just like volcanoes.

We left Coolangatta airport at about half past eight at night and flew to Canberra on a teeny tiny plane.

Nothing exciting happened, except we got to the Canberra YHA (absolutely freezing) at about midnight. Which brings me to…
Day Two
To quote our booklet “Walk down Anzac Parade to view monuments. Australian War Memorial”
I love the War Memorial. We had six hours there, which was so much fun. Eventually we managed to sneak into the kids area (one by one, going in every thirty seconds, denying any connection to any school). We had to keep splitting up to avoid detection. Very fun.

At one point we were all (Tim, Georgia and I – Aaron took the photo) crouched in a little hole in the fake trenches bit. It was pretty funny, despite the injuries we all sustained.

The Memorial was huge, so much stuff in there and all so interesting. There was this little room you went into with screens that showed you views as if you were in a bomber plane and the floor vibrated and shook as though you were actually in the plane. That was pretty cool. Also the “Wipe Out Saddam” toilet paper was very funny.

Another really cool thing that I never realised existed, was the line between the War Memorial, Old Parliament House and Parliament House. Here’s me looking down towards the Parliaments.

And that concludes day two.
