Bit of a pain of a day. After driving Jack and Dad out to where they finished yesturday (about 17km on from the camp spot) Mum and I went 120km back to Broken Hill to try and pick up the (hopefully) fixed bike. No such luck when we first arrived, so we spent the rest of the day alternately seeing the sights and checking back in at the bike shop.
We went to the Big Picture Mint and Gallery. It’s main feature is a 100m long cancas outback scene paining by Peter Anderson. I have to admit that while I liked alot of his other stuff I wasn’t keen on the big one. It would have taken a huge amount of time though, and from that view it was very impressive.
We also went to the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery a couple of doors down from the hotel. It was realy nice. There was a gorgeous one of a girl there, Memories by John William Godward.

After that we went to the Pro Hart Gallery, which was great. I don’t usually like art galleries, but this was great today. I guess cause they were all small and had a few things that I really liked, so that was good. It was fun to spend the day just with Mum, chilling out (to a certain degree).
Eventually we got the part and headed back. It was a really exhilarating drive, since we were on the road at dusk, which is when all the animals come out. I saw my first ever road kill (not including that semi-skeletal kangaroo at Springs Hill). It was amazing/disgusting, they were absolutely everywhere.
We saw heaps of (live) roos, which was brilliant, seeing as that’s the one thing I’d wanted to see all along. They are definitely very stupid – one jumped across the road right in front of us. Goats seem a little smarter – they run away from the road.
I never realised how many goats there are in outback New South Wales (and I assume in other states as well). We literally saw hundreds over about half an hour or so.
No emus today though. It’s okay though, since we’ve seen so many so far already.
Beautiful sunset though.
