Day 15 – Port Augusta

by admin on September 25, 2008

It’s weird – just as you get into some sort of a routine out here, it all gets turned on its head.  Not that its a bad thing, but still.  Got into Port Augusta fairly early and met everyone at the campsite.  Guess what?!?  Showers!  It felt so good to have a shower – I was disgustingly filthy and my hair!  Erugh.  But it was good to get clean.

After making ourselves at least partially fit to be seen, we went down to Coles and did all the groceries for the next few days until Broken Hill.  It’s amazing how organised Mum is, she’s incredible.

That night we went to the West Augusta Football Club for dinner – real fine dining, wooh!  $8.50 for a meal.  $11.50 if you want to splash out and get a steak.  Great food though.

About half way through the meal the President of the club came over and asked what we were all about (we were all wearing out Perth to Paradise t-shirts), so dad gave him the speel.  Then he gave dad a mic and made him tell everyone in the club out the ride and then he sent Mum and Jo around with a bucket to collect donations.  It was pretty cool, they got a couple of hundred dollars just from that.

And just some shots of Jack riding…
