Some people…

by admin on January 13, 2007

After that pathetic excuse for a post about my nail polish, I feel obliged to put up something decent, so I’m going to rave about something that’s been bothering me for a little while.

Watching Rove a little while back, that singer, Rhianna, Rhiannon or something, was getting interviewed and came up with one of the best lines I’ve heard in ages.

“Well, Australia’s a city I’ve always wanted to visit.”

I’m blaming the fact that she had big hair and was wearing a skimpy outfit. You can’t expect someone to look like that AND think at the same time.

Which reminds me of when our new principal at school was trying to bring in the whole black shoes thing. A year eight girl told me, in all seriousness, that the principal was sitting in her office knitting socks for all 1300 of us, to go with our new shoes.

I am scared. I am really scared.

Hmm, what else have I got?

“How long does the twenty minute run go for?”

“Does rice grow on trees just like pasta?”

“From which direction does the sun rise?” “Well it depends on which side you’re standing.”

“What does beneficial mean?”

And you can’t say I’m being mean, cause most of them were, “Oops, I forgot to think” comments. Also I said at least one of them.

Not that I’m going to tell you which one/s. (No not all of them. Geez, just because I’m blonde…)

Houseboat-ed-ness

by admin on January 9, 2007

This is getting to be quite a foreign idea:

I am NOT going to make a list this post. And it’s true, I’m not.

Over the weekend, my family, my cousins and a couple of other families went down the Tweed River on a houseboat. Well, two houseboats actually. There were a lot of us.

First night (Friday night) we stopped near Fingal, in the nicest spot ever. Turned out we were parked smack- dab in the middle of the section of river you weren’t allowed to anchor in, but whatever, it was nice. A couple of the families had speedboats along with them, so we got to do doughnutting, water skiing and wake boarding.
I only tried the doughnut and wake boarding. We went on the doughnut heaps, that was really awesome, because one of them had two doughnuts going at once, so you’d be there bashing into each other and everything. And I probably should mention that even though I spent ages trying to stand up on the wake board, I didn’t actually manage. It was really fun trying though.

So that was fun.

I can’t think of anything else that’s been happening (give me a break, I’ve only been back since yesterday morning.)

Bye.

Happy New Year!

by admin on January 2, 2007

I’m going to go through 2006 and see what I’ve done. No particular reason.

Left behind on my parents trip to Europe. Not to say that I didn’t have a fun time, just hello? EUROPE!!

I did the Toastmasters course at McDonalds at the crack of dawn in first term, for about six weeks.

I struggled through and somehow managed not only to finish, but to also get an A on the enormous twenty page assignment on the human paradox that I’ve doubtless mentioned on here before. I’m still proud of that.

Volunteered for that thing where the American students came and we had to be their buddy for the day. The first time was really good, the girl I was paired with was really nice, but the second time I wound up with a stuck up Barbie doll who ditched me at lunchtime. So mixed feelings about all of that.

Played hockey again this year. And we didn’t lose all our games!! I think we might have even won a couple!! Yayness!

Actually attended the school Sports Day, because of the Student Council drinks stall and the fact that Misato was staying with us at that point.

Had Misato and Aya, two Japanese students stay at our place for two weeks each.

Went to Japan for three months and stayed with Misato. I’m not going to write too much more about that, because I think I’ve bored everyone with that for the last four months of this blog. Although I do think it’s such a big deal I ought to write it several times.

Hee hee hee.

Flew down to Hobart for my Grandpa’s funeral. (Low point of the year.)

Somehow (I’m still not entirely sure how this happened) managed to get a bunch of awards at the Awards night. I find this mildly hilarious, considering the fact that I have no idea how I managed to get any of them.

Consumed absurd amounts of ham, pavlova and rum-less rum balls, which are traditionally our Christmas
treats, in order to stock up for the rest of the year.

Burnt my skin to a crisp in a single trip to the beach and spent the next week rubbing moisturiser into my face, shoulders, arms and back.

Been on my Uncle’s doughnut, attatched to the back of their boat and achieved aching arm muscles in addition to my third degree burns. Although that is really fun. Until you fall off that is. That’s just scary.

Hmm. Not bad, not bad at all.
